Debra May Himes, ASID, IIDA, LEED AP has been working as a professional interior designer in the Phoenix Metro area for over 30 years.  Debra believes her best projects are the ones in which the home owners, architect, builder, interior designer are all able to work as a team to make the home owner’s dream home come to life.  She feels very blessed to have been part of so many wonderful projects over the years.

A long time client of this designer’s recently sold their large home in Paradise Valley and downsized. Leaving behind in the old residence was their desire for Old World Traditional design. In with Soft Contemporary for this new home! The clients still prefer simple elegance, so this home was to also reflect that preference. Focal to the room is the fireplace, which is clad in 12’ X 24’ Honed Golden Green Slate with recessed copper strip detailing. On each side of the Fireplace are custom cabinets with lighted shelving. Central in the Family Room sit custom leather sofas, as well as custom chairs designed for this space. As the focal point in the furnishings sit custom Black Walnut Cocktail and End Tables designed by this designer for this particular client’s project. Providing for extra seating if necessary, the cabinets allow for the storage of a bench. This project was just awarded an ASID Award for Design Excellence in 2015.
